Your Pregnancy Journey in 3D Ultrasound: What’s Happening at 1 Week?

Writer: A.S, RDMSA.S, RDMS

At 1 week pregnant, you’re technically not pregnant yet! Here’s why:

3D Ultrasound at 1 Week

  • An ultrasound wouldn’t show a baby yet, but it might show your uterus preparing for ovulation. You are in the follicular phase, days 1-7 of your menstrual cycle.

  • In about two weeks, ovulation will occur, and fertilization can happen!

What’s Happening?

  • Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period, even though fertilization hasn’t happened yet.

  • Your body is preparing for ovulation (when a mature egg is released from the ovary) shedding the old uterine lining and getting ready for a new cycle.

Your Body’s Changes

  • You may be having your period as your body resets for a potential pregnancy.

  • Hormones like estrogen and progesterone start working to prepare your uterus for implantation.
